Our Family Chill Rafting Tour on the beautiful Lågen River in Sjoa is the perfect introduction to whitewater rafting and Nordic sightseeing — designed specifically with families, children, and first-timers in mind. You’ll float through a stunning valley surrounded by picturesque Norwegian mountains, paddling mild and calm Grade 2 rapids yet still raw and powerful - enjoying quality time together in nature, breathing pristine air and taking in absolute breath taking views. 

Led by certified and experienced guides, we make sure everyone feels confident and has a great time — no experience needed! Kids as young as 5 can join, and we provide all the gear and support so you can just show up and enjoy the ride. After the tour, we gather back at our rafting base in Heidal for a hot drink and smiles all around. If you are staying around you can jump straight in our river saunas or set up your tent, and settle in for a rustic, yet high quality Nordic outdoor experience.

Fitness Level: You must have a reasonable level of fitness. 

Alternative Arrangements: In case of high river flow, we reserve the right to conduct the trip on an alternative river to ensure safety.

Accommodation: 

At our paddling base in Nedre Heidal, we have camping/hammock/camper-van overnight options and a sauna and hot tub, toilet/kitchen facilities, and access to electricity. If you want to sleep in a cabin/room and not in a tent/hammock, then we recommend staying at the beautiful and cosy Faukstad Farmstead, which is just across the road, The Banken Cabin and Campsite in Heidal, or the historic Heart Break Hotel only a short 10 minute walk from our base.

What to Expect:

Experience the wow factor and breathtaking views of Nordic nature while paddling the Lågen River - a river steeped in history as far back as the viking age! Experience splashes and fun on grade 2 rapids, while relaxing and enjoying the spectacular views - you will even get the chance to swim and play some famous rafting games, under the guidance of our experienced raft guides. After the adventure, relax with a warm beverage and take advantage of our facilities to freshen up.
